Step Aside
Productions was formed by Nick Anderberg & Mike Salonen in 1998.
The Company is based in Sweden, but has an international market. The
aim is to promote ska-music to a wider audience in the spirit of "everyone
can do it"! (And because ska is great, of course :-)
The Company started out producing different skastuff like badges and
T-shirts.
After a while Nick & Mike decided to release some music on the label
Step Aside Records (see below).
The ideal of the company goes hand in hand with those of you who know
about the british ska-company "2-Tone". As Lynval Golding
(ex Specials/2-Tone) put it:
- We had
a really good thing going! The spirit between ska & punk was explosive
and we had the feeling that everybody could do everything, just as long
as we work together...
Those
phrases really describes the feeling of Step Aside. We're not in this
for profit, but to show if all forces, interested in ska (and everything
else), work together we can move mountains...
This is one of the reasons Step Aside Productions try to work with a
lot of other people & companies, for example the newly established
co-operation with One Step Beyond Magazine.

Step Aside
Records was formed to be able to release skamusic throughout the world.
The first release was more of a promotion CD for ska/reggae/dub/dance/jungle-experiment
"Landmine A Crime" by Nutty AnDead & Sweetfoot. We now
decided to make it an official release.
We worked hard with One Step Beyond to make the new compilation "Skank
To The Riddim". It was ment to be a compilation with artists from
different countries & styles that we wanted to listen to ourselves.
And it worked out really fine.
The result is a great compilation both for beginners of ska and the
more experienced! Check it out...
Step Aside Records are currently working to establish a network over
the world to be able to distribute the music.
We also have started to collect demos to be able to release new artists
on the label (See demo-section).
Step Aside Records want to collaborate with as many different artists
& companies as possible, just as long we share the same goals.

Aside Mailorder is the sales-section of the company. Since we don't
sell our merchandise directly we use mailorder.
At the moment we're working on a catalogue, but our main channel for
sales will be through
our Internet Store.
When this will be established you'll be able to buy all thinhs online.
But for now all sales are mailorder (See Store for more info).
